Corporate Sector Commits to Join the Fight against TB

Acknowledging the resources and reach that corporates have to support the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry and State TB Cell, Gujarat in association with The Union, organized a corporate consultation on TB on 5th October 2021 in Ahmedabad. The objective was to sensitize leading corporate houses in Gujarat, on TB-related socio-economic aspects and encourage them to join the Corporate TB Pledge (CTP) – a joint initiative of USAID and the Govt. of India, and implemented by The Union under iDEFEAT TB project.

The consultation witnessed participation from Central TB Division GoI, Department of industry, Department of Health, State TB Cell, Gujarat, State CSR Authority, USAID/India, The Union and around 20 corporates based in Gujarat. 

Varying dignitaries joined the event including Mr. Jai Prakash Shivhare IAS, Health Commissioner, Gujarat, Mr. Ranjeet Kumar J, Commissioner MSME, Gujarat, Dr. Raghuram Rao, Joint Director, Central TB Division, Dr. Tejas Shah, CTO Ahmedabad, Ms. Sangita Patel, Director-Health Office, USAID/India, Mr. Ashish Desai, Chairman, Gujarat Chapter, PHDCCI, Dr. Jyoti Jaju, Project Director, iDEFEAT TB Project, The Union, Mr. Vikram Tandan, Group Head HR, Adani Group etc.

The consultation involved an inaugural session, technical session on Corporate TB Pledge and a panel discussion on “Role of corporate sector in TB elimination and sharing successful partnership models.”

During the panel discussion, corporates including Nayara Energy, Apollo Tyres Foundation, BEST Mumbai and Adani Foundation presented the models they are supporting in the TB space.

The event concluded on a high note with numerous participating organizations committing to sign the Corporate TB Pledge.
