The employees can access free TB treatment and facilities in-house or at a DOTS centre near home, and also consult specialists like pulmonologists, cardiologists and ophthalmologists to manage the side-effects of TB medication. To ensure the complete treatment adherence, monthly three-tier follow-up system has been devised, through the DOTS centre, the depot dispensary and the Pulmonologist at Mumbai Central depot investigation Centre. If patients need hospitalization, they can go to hospitals empanelled by BEST to seek treatment, free of cost. In addition, employees are eligible for benefits like leave with pay for up to one year. Employees who develop physical disabilities post treatment are entitled for accommodation and an alternate assignment on same payon same pay. Also, a high-protein diet is available at concessional rates. in the canteens at different depots and workshops. There are regular trainings for the medical staff, and counselling for patients and their families which is critical for treatment adherence. Mission TB Free Haryana, launched in 2015, is a public private partnership between the Government of Haryana and Medanta Hospital to increase access to TB care in rural Haryana. Our intervention model is hinged on strengthening the robust National TB Program by finding missing TB patients and establishing linkages between the patients and the government health care and treatment services. 3 vans fitted with X-Ray machines move across a cluster of districts in a cyclic manner, dedicating 4-6 weeks to each district, supporting each PHC/CHC by conducting X-rays of presumptive patients for almost a week and then returning again within 6-8 months to it. The routes of the vans are designed in consultation with the District TB Officers. Community is informed ahead of the camp, using the help of the front line health workers like ASHA, ANMs who are essentially the link between the community and health services. Vans fitted with confirmatory, CBNAAT tests serve as a missing link. State-of-the-art services are delivered right at the doorstep of patients, reducing the delay in diagnosis. In November 2019 upon becoming a CTP Member, we ensured 100% population coverage. Launched in a block of Pataudi, a team equipped with a questionnaire covered entire the block through door-to-door screening and identified patients. Local level stakeholders like ASHA workers, sarpanch and civil society organizations were engaged via meetings, workshops, etc. to increase awareness and community ownership. The entire continuum of care – awareness, screening, diagnosis, treatment and counselling for adherence, is offered in the block. The X-ray vans have provided screening support across 19 of the 22 districts of the state. The scaling up of our intervention in 4 additional states of India - Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Meghalaya, proves the success of our pilot in Haryana.

Access to treatment: In 2015, Johnson & Johnson introduced bedaquiline, our antibiotic for pulmonary multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB), in India. It was the first TB medicine with a novel mechanism of action to be introduced in the country in more than 40 years. To support the government’s efforts to build capacity for its introduction, the Company donated more than 22,000 courses of bedaquiline through a global donation program operated in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development. Now bedaquiline is available to nearly 140 countries including India at a not-for-profit price through Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility.
Case Detection and Testing: With the goal of enabling early diagnosis, the Company has supported state governments and NGOs to provide nearly 50,000 X-ray tests, 32,000 molecular tests, and 4,600 pre-evaluation tests and to build the capacity of eight culture and drug sensitivity testing labs. Approximately 7,600 TB cases and 1,000 DR-TB cases have been diagnosed through these interventions
• Supported campaigns that involved 24,000 auto-rickshaws, 21,000 buses, 200 taxis, 56 trains, 6 radio stations, 112 theatre screens and 590 street plays across the cities of Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur Delhi and Patna.
• Supported the inclusion of TB messaging into a first-of-its-kind “edutainment” campaign in India, MTV Nishedh, aimed at raising awareness and reducing stigma around health issues among young people in India. The campaign reached more than 10 million Indians via MTV India, Colors Rishtey, and VOOT. The company is now supporting a new, digital miniseries called MTV Nishedh Alone Together, which focuses on how COVID-19 has impacted the lives of young people, including those suffering from TB. Episodes are streaming on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
Capacity Building of Clinicians and Healthcare workers: Supported the training of more than 15,000 healthcare professionals across 13 high-burden states in clinical management of TB and MDR-TB
Nutrition Support: In order to improve nutritional status of TB/DR-TB patients, the Company supported programs have provided nutritional support to approximately 6,000 TB and MDR-TB patients across 6 states

About 180,000 workers and their families live within the tea estates in housing provided by the company. The company is committed to eliminate TB by 2025 and the health of this large population is looked after by a strong and dedicated team of doctors and trained para medical staff who run 31hospitals and 12 dispensaries. However, Tuberculosis remains a health problem amongst tea garden workers. Factors such as illiteracy, alcohol, tobacco consumption, unbalanced dietary practices of the community and delay in seeking TB treatment make them a high-risk group.
Goodricke Group adopted TB interventions across all ongoing health services since early 2000s. Our program has grown into a large scale well-designed holistic model that includes training of staff, awareness generation activities amongst the high-risk groups, active case finding, contact screening, early diagnosis, free treatment supported with counselling and follow-ups with close linkages with the National TB Program. Non-workers residing in the gardens are also included in their TB elimination program.

Established in 1993, Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) is a grassroots Pan-India implementing organisation that harnesses the power of partnerships –between communities, Government and other like-minded corporates and NGOs – to help solve pressing community problems and to foster prosperity. In particular, to the health program, it bridges the gap between rural communities and primary healthcare. Taking a holistic approach ACF facilitates to provide appropriate healthcare services and awareness so that people increase their health seeking behavior.
The programme is led by a cadre of ACF-trained, village-based health workers called Sakhis, ensuring basic health care at the village level, and refer patients for timely medical intervention whenever needed. They play an active role in promoting health-based neonatal care, sanitation, tobacco control and adolescent issues.
ACF has committed to extend their support towards awareness generation, nutrition education and issue advisory/directives to all its locations to integrate modules on prevention and control of Tuberculosis into all its relevant trainings, in its operating geographical area and help in treatment adherence as well as early identification of patients through referral of suspected cases.
